high speed fiber switch

Introduction

Infiniband is a faster and more effective alternative to conventional Ethernet in terms of storage. Given that my existing NICs and switch are compatible with Infiniband (my current NIC operates at 40G in Ethernet mode and 56G in Infiniband mode), it may be worth considering incorporating this feature by utilizing the auxiliary port (since my current model has two ports, with one being unused). However, it's important to note that Infiniband isn't a substitute for Ethernet as it serves a distinct purpose.

It hasn't been determined yet whether this project will proceed or if it will be abandoned altogether. As for my decision, I've opted to finish the GPFS Project first and assess the situation from there.
